Vitamin E is absorbed by intestinal epithelial cells in the presence of bile, pancreatic juice, and fat in the upper part of the small intestine as mixed particles by lipase in an unsaturated passive dispersion mode.  Most of the absorbed forms of vitamin E are carried by chylomicron through the lymphatic system to the liver.  Vitamin E from the liver is transported into the plasma through carrier action of chylomicron and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL).  Chylomicrons transfer absorbed vitamin E into the lipoprotein cycle during the breakdown of the blood circulation, with the rest remaining as chylomicrons.  Excretion occurs mainly through urine or feces.
